Elective Surgery in Veterinary Practices

March 16, 2020

Clermont Animal Hospital will continue to perform elective surgery during this time as long as it does not interfere with the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) supply.

We wash, re-sterilize and reuse all of our gowns, and our caps/masks can be reused unless contaminated.  We also have a supply of sterile gloves that can no longer be used in human medicine because of changes in hypoallergenic requirements–these limitations do NOT apply to our animal patients.  Thus, our surgeries will not in any way impact the PPE supply.  In fact, we have an excess of some items that will be donating to the county Emergency Management Agency, including extra masks, disposable non-surgical gowns, and exam gloves.
